Amazon. This is our arduous schedule for every day. You are lucky you don’t have to do all this.

Love by Awa from the indigenous tribe of the Amazon This is your pen pal Awa and I belong to an indigenous tribe in the Amazon Rainforest. Our days are really busy and most of the time I am buzzing around like a bee.

We always wake up early in the morning with the golden-yellow rays of the glorious sunlight flooding through our windows, which bathe our home. Breakfast is eaten with our whole tribe, not just with our family. This is because our tribe believes we are one big community and it is important to share what we have with each other, not just keep it for ourselves. Usually for breakfast we have: berries, bananas, kiwi, mangos, apples, pear, bread, corn, washed down with heaven-like coconut water everyday.

Later on, which is my favourite time of the day, the children go fishing with the elders of the tribe. I love being close to the crystal clear water of the Amazon because I adore watching all the fish swimming beneath the water. Marmalade- orange, aqua-blue,ruby-red,sapphire-blue,moss-green, lavender-purple, lemon-yellow, these are just some of the exquisite colours of the wonderful fish here in the Amazon. Wouldn’t you love to see the river and its precious treasure?

When we come back from catching all the fish for dinner we go hunting for other things as the smoke-grey clouds try to hug the rainforest into darkness. There are nearly over 3,000 plants and animal species in the rainforest. In the night we all have a refreshing and really warm bath in a specific part of the river Rainforest
